@coogie I believe your attitude may not be the best to understand how things work and why they do work so; not necessarily I'm saying they work well.
I disagree with what you say, and in particular with your "nip that in the bud"; this is not a fresh social network in which rules and uses still have to be decided, there is a large user base who already communicates in a certain way.
I feel the best question for you should be: why in this social network I just joined boosts are not endorsement? After understanding that you may choose to disagree and try to change things.
I, for example, don't think people should just boost stuff they agree with and I very often boost stuff I really don't like.
As an example: political party leader said something unacceptable, I will boost that to let people know about the incompetence of the guy.
Moreover, I might boost someone making a point I disagree with to get more people into the conversation.
This is not Twitter, don't try to change it as if it was Twitter; there is plenty of things that don't work well; but the ability to read and talk about things you disagree with is not one of them.
