@DrMilks Not from the US, so I'm not really able to judge.
I believe the school should form people and teach them to think.
Taking to students about the current problem in the spotlight does not necessary improve their formation.
People able to think are much more useful than people who are spoonfed with a series of problems to think about.
I do not believe this is a good approach.
@rastinza I agree about helping students learn to think -- so what happens in my classroom is very different from talking. Instead, it's a great deal of problem-solving, based in authentic scientific practices and the engineering design cycle. And this particular problem (climate change) is not just a current issue in the spotlight. 🤷 Plus, my students are the ones whose questions drive our explorations!
