Anti capitalist rant, banks, credit cards
Today I got in an argument with $older_relative because $younger_relative hasn't paid the department store money and they started calling them.
$older_relative told me: "I need to pay that money."
So I told them: "Okay, first of all, please STOP saying 'I need to pay.' What is the worst thing that will happen if you don't pay that money to the department store? They stop $younger_relative from buying things until the debt is paid. Period. But that's THEIR problem, not yours. Now, if I don't pay the rent, I get kicked out. So please recognize the difference between WANTING or FEELING PRESSURED BY GUILT to pay, and NEEDING to pay. So no, you don't NEED to pay shit.
Second, if you bought some things using $younger_relative's department credit card, then talk to them and get the numbers clear. Then you'll perfectly know how much you owe, and to whom you owe it.
So, my message to you all is:
Please STOP using capitalist media's terminology! They're brainwashing you! You DO NOT NEED TO PAY your credit card unless you have clear what they will do against you if you don't pay.
In my country, you know what happens to people who don't pay their credit cards? They get blocked, telephonically harassed to hell, until they finally get an offer to pay LESS.
So yeah. If you're smart about it, when you don't pay you end up owing less money! 🤯
Wow. If we take that into account, it turns out that many of us NEED to STOP PAYING their credit cards.
See how a little analysis puts things in perspective?
Now, you know what a WONDERFUL thing would be? To get together, organize, and use one solvent person's credit card to buy stuff you NEED, while you stop paying for YOUR credit card. When you get to an agreement with the banks, you start paying less, AND you pay your solvent friend the money they NEED to keep their credit card working (plus a mutually negotiated fee).
Banks get less rich, and you get out of your economic problems. All by simply organizing.
(But it needs to be with people you trust, because some assholes just won't pay at all. They know who they are)
And for those living in the US, seriously consider joining a credit union.
