@realcaseyrollins what do you mean fighting against abortion?
@maison_faim Just being a pro-life advocate.
I don't want y'all to literally fight people lol
@maison_faim No, I'm not vegan. (I value human life over animal life, which is why I think it's fine to kill animals, * humanely *, if your going to eat them, or if they're in extreme pain.)
@maison_faim From a secular standpoint, there aren't a whole lot of arguments I can think of to support my view of human life. Sure, humans are the most intelligent life form (as far as we know), and humans maintain ecosystems and save animals from extenction, but if you believe that humans are killing the planet, there's nothing I can say to you on that front.
Now, from a Christian (and also Jewish and Catholic) standpoint, God created mankind in His image, and mandated us to "be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth" (Genesis 1:18) Thus, we are to tend to the earth and animals, and take care of them. This establishes man at the top of the hierarchy in the physical realm.
@realcaseyrollins What do you know about Santa Claus?
@maison_faim Um...he's not real, he supposedly lives on the North Pole with some elves, and vacations on the beach in the summer, depending on what legend you read. Why?
@realcaseyrollins because just like santa claus, God doesn't exist. Remember, believing in something doesn't make it real.
@maison_faim God is real.
@realcaseyrollins so is it true that Mary was a virgin and gave birth to Jesus?
@maison_faim Yes.
@realcaseyrollins So that's the difference between God and man. When God's mother screws around she's not called a whore. I wish humans learnt something from the Bible.
@maison_faim What? God never had sex with Mary.
@realcaseyrollins then who did?
@maison_faim No one; that's what virgin means.
@realcaseyrollins it was a miracle!
@maison_faim Yep!
@realcaseyrollins @maison_faim
> humans maintain ecosystems and save animals from extenction
oh gorg how can you be so wrong in such a short amount of words?
@dexter @maison_faim How am I wrong?
@realcaseyrollins @maison_faim the earth doesnt need us. it was there before us and it will outlive us.
we have such a poor understanding of ecosystems, how could we manage them ? its like saying that we already able to terraform whole planets.
"we have such a poor understanding of ecosystems"
If this is true, then how do you know that killing all humans will save ecosystems?
@realcaseyrollins @maison_faim oh no dont worry I dont wish that. we just have to rethinking our consumption. and some parts of our economy.
@realcaseyrollins @dexter I am not sure if killing all humans would save ecosystems but it would be fun.
@realcaseyrollins @maison_faim and ofc there is a consensus that we are destroying ecosystems, not keeping them alive. just fact and logic my sweet dude
@dexter @maison_faim TBH there's consensus on a lot of things, that doesn't make them true.
Yes, many humans * are * destroying ecosystems, not keeping them alive (look over yonder towards China). However, there are also humans that help maintain ecosystems, and we are doing a far better job at preserving species today than we were mere decades ago.
@realcaseyrollins @maison_faim > we are doing a far better job at preserving species today than we were mere decades ago.
well ur right about that.
but if you take everything into account, its gonna get a lot worse before it even begins to get better :/
@dexter @maison_faim You could be right here. But, once we get really good at tending to the environment, things will be way better than they would have been had humans never existed.
@realcaseyrollins well, is there anything special about human life? Humans are just killing this planet anyway.
