This is very interesting to me. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/28/technology/inside-facebook-employees-political-bias.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage
Ever since the flap at Google over the Dupree episode, I've wondered if ideological monocultures are sustainable. Considering how evil Google is as a company when it concerns privacy, and all that.

So here's the thing... there are a LOT of leftists who equivocate any person who doesn't share their entire menu of political views as an enemy--as someone out to "get them", and then victimization is raised.
I've seen independent voters get attacked, libertarians, anarchists, pragmatists, and most importantly of all---centrists.
Centrists still make up a large part of the voting population. It's suicide to do this, and self-defeating.
diversity
Similarly, the far-right does exactly the same thing. You've all heard the term "cuck" before, right?
They're criticizing conservatives who have a hard-liner persona but their voting record shows that they compromise. And in the far-right world, *any* compromise on any subject about anything is a mortal sin.
Which is exactly how leftists behave.
diversity
And, sorry---but this is true---wrapping up identity into politics is a purely leftist trait. It surprises no one to see a rando Indep person who's semi-socialist get cremated because they're not in the same church.
I don't understand how you can be this exclusionary and expect to win a broader electorate; which forces you to drift away from your political leanings.
So the next best thing is to be exclusionary at your own place of employment.
diversity
@trayofbees Could you explain what you mean by "wrapping up identity into politics is a purely leftist trait"? How is something like the 700 club not a right-wing identity?
diversity
@drewfer The stuff I'm mainly highlighting is the attempt to squash non-leftist employees inside places of employment.
Not only does that foster resentment and a fear culture, it scores you zero political points. You can try to bounce these people out of a job but you can't ban them from voting.
diversity
@trayofbees @drewfer it’s the problem of any extreme and the inability to see there’s an alternative viewpoint that’s valid. The inability to debate and to compromise. Sure you can drive out and away those who don’t fit into a very small clique but it can only get smaller with that attitude and can’t be sustainable.
diversity
@trayofbees @drewfer that said... there are occasions when people will cry out about not being able to share their valid political views, which turn out to be a front for a shitstorm of awfulness that simply pisses on other people. That’s not ok and it can’t be subject to debate. Some ideas are not fit to be debated.
diversity
@drewfer @trayofbees I’m referring to ideas that deny the humanity of others. These ideas, for me, are not up for debate.
