re: blocked instances, meta

@arachnomyrmex @yetzt unfortunately “most blocked” doesn’t always translate to “automatically bad.” This instance, disqordia.space (or rather, the continuation of it) is on your list, likely a result of the admin being the target of several transmisogynist smear campaigns.

re: blocked instances, meta

@arachnomyrmex @yetzt in fact based on a cursory look there’s at least 2 other instances on there that are completely innocuous, but have been subject to slander. 1-size-fits-all approaches to moderation like this are pretty much guaranteed to hurt people they don’t intend to in this way

re: blocked instances, meta

@dangerdyke @arachnomyrmex i feel i have failed to get this across:

this is not a list of which instance i think should be blocked. this is a list of the most blocked instances.

it's possibly a useful starting point to find instances deserving defederation, nothing more is implied.

@yetzt @dangerdyke @arachnomyrmex@eldritch.cafe

I think many people are afraid that a process that uses this as a starting point will have a nontrivial false positive rate, and that might create enough of a positive feedback loop that an instance would ~never get off this list. I don't know either way whether that risk is realistic.
