Another day, another @Cloudflare paid service provided to a Russian threat actor successfully attacks banks and banking law firms.
At least three more entities compromised in a credential theft operation that we notified. The large law firm was horrified to learn their effort to kick the threat out of the accounts two weeks ago apparently failed due to persistence. Quite an interesting Living off the Cloud attack so far.
Bonus: Of the three reports to Cloudflare of threat actors using their web proxy commercial service to attack U.S. critical infrastructure, they have replied to exactly zero.
My impression, based IIRC largely on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloudflare#Banning_of_Switter and on the evolution of their statements about kiwifarms, was that they weren't free speech absolutists. I'd be interested to be convinced otherwise.
I meant that I got convinced that they weren't protecting everyone equally (in the meaning of trying equally hard not to deny service to every client), which what I would expect free speech absolutists to do. I guess you are saying that they weren't doing that, right?
@robryk I am saying they WANT To, their initial defense in the Kiwifarm case was that they were as innocent as a phone provider. Public pressure made them back down, temporarily. They ARE after all capitalists and so need customers.
@robryk @jamiesaker They are still protecting criminals and sexual predators for ideological reasons. It's just that for a brief time they got shamed into publicly admit they facilitated doxing of minorities.
Besides, as I said: first protecting right wing terrorists for money, then offering protection to the victims of said terrorists customers to other people for goodwill.
