Technically they are _because they're missing alt text_. One might say that that's similar to the jokes being incomprehensible because they are missing an explanation (for some of them the explanation would be be absurdly long, but for some it wouldn't be longer than a typical alt text).

if i'm posting a low effort meme because i've spent the day in a pain flare and this is the sum total of my achievements that day i do not want to spend 10x the time and effort writing alt text that keeps it funny just because someone's idea of accessibility includes relying on guilt
