I wanted to bitpack a 4096-entry lookup table, but the largest number is 4095, so each number takes 12 bits, so it would fit into a 36-bit word but not a 32-bit one... I want a PDP-10 now.

@niconiconi You mean you'd get 3 of them per word? You could fit 5 12-bit values in each 64-bit entry, but that's not that much of a gain over 4 16bit values~~
