A chivalric code of academic integrity for the young scientist.

Not like the real codes of chivalry but more like what we think they ought to have been like.

A naive commitment to understanding the world. (The more I think about it to be naive is a requirement. To NOT be naive would mean making assumptions, being cynical, experienced.)

Contrast this with student oaths at universities, which often(?) place equal importance on selling truth and defending the good name of the university :(
