As of I'm not sure when but it must be pretty recent, Mastodon.social no longer shows a "Follows you" tag on profiles. If someone follows you but you don't follow them the follow button says "Follow back" and if they follow you and you follow them the button says "Mutual". I do not like this. I very, very, *very* much do not like this.

Getting the cheap shot out of the way first: What is the "mutual" button? "Click here to mutual"? Of course if you mouse over "Follow back" it turns dark blue and if you mouse over "Mutual" it turns red. So click here to red mutual I guess.

To me, the main purpose of a GUI is to reduce the cognitive work I must do to ingest data or complete tasks. So it's really not good if getting the answer to a simple, standard question ("does this person follow you"?, v important because can explain whether you can DM them) requires reading English text then solving a small logic puzzle

@mcc

How is the following relationship related to ability to DM someone?

@robryk There is a checkbox on Mastodon branded Mastodon which causes DMs from people you don't follow to be silently cast into the void with no notification to either party. I don't like the implementation of this mastodon.social/@mcc/110368154
