The word "thesis" still makes me chuckle after all this time thanks to it being so similar to $NATIVE_LANGUAGE word for testicles ("testis").

And apparently in English the final exam is called "thesis defense" so now I am imagining someone having to defend their balls from being attacked from all sides by the examiners (probably using snakes too, according to Google)
