@psn Re why: isn't the subsidy for the party dependent on the fraction of the votes cast for that party? If so, there's monetary sense in having a candidate in every <insert name of appropriate territorial unit>.
@robryk Farage has a long history as a successful fundraiser, and the total public money is low, so it seems unlikely. I guess they thought they might do better than they did, and wanted a candidate in every seat. sf list out in the Irish 2020 election by not having enough candidates.
