Reminder that when a disabled person asks you not to do something you think will help, it's because they know it's not helpful and it's probably damaging to them.

Tbh, you should respect anyone's needs and wishes, but disabled people's are more frequently ignored because other people always assume they know better than us. It's really frustrating!

You also shouldn't expect to get an explanation for why it's not helpful. We do not owe you that and we're already very tired.

@robryk that's not the situation I'm talking about. Go ask someone who is. I don't have the spoons for whatever you're getting at.
