also, these sorts of scams are happening in all languages these days, so in case you're not clear what their angle is: they're hoping to get a reply like "oh, I work at such-and-such a firm, maybe we spoke at the conference last week?" and social engineer their way into eventually getting money out of you from there
@0xabad1dea But why are they attempting it in Chinese when targetting phone numbers with Netherlands' country code? If they do it at most once per number, wouldn't it make more sense to pick a language the target is more likely to speak?
@robryk Chinese is the world’s #1 native language and #2 in total speakers. It’s probably simply someone who speaks Chinese robo-dialing as many whatsapp accounts as possible because there’s people who speak Chinese everywhere (including the occasional bored white girl)
