One thing I am curious about:
In the US, it’s well established that the crime rate is substantially lower among immigrants than among citizens. In Switzerland, according to official statistics, it’s exactly the opposite.
What accounts for this? Do other countries publish such statistics?
@robryk Switzerland reports this in official stats: https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/294498/umfrage/straftatverdaechtige-in-der-schweiz-nach-gesetzen-und-staatsangehoerigkeit/. Ignoring immigration violations, a slight majority of all recorded crime is attributed to non-citizens.
In the US, statistics are murkier, since there’s no consistent nationwide reporting scheme, but reliable studies generally show citizens commit non-immigration crime at significantly higher rates: https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/undocumented-immigrant-offending-rate-lower-us-born-citizen-rate.
