These are intimate thought I'm sharing here. Plz no flame :)

Ever since my PhD finished (failed), I've been slowly growing uncomfortable with the country I live in, I don't want to be here anymore. It'd hurt my family, but it's true. I'm unhappy.

What helps is daydreaming about moving to Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul and working in IT/data science/engineering.

Fediverse, talk some sense into me. Or is there something to this…

@yarmo the president of Brazil thinks that Covid-19 is just the 'snifs'. Last time I checked Brazil had 529,405 cases. In comparison your home country only has 46,545. Right now, stay were you are.

In the future, when all this is over, then if you want to move go for it. Brazil is a beautiful country.

@freddyym @yarmo I have never been to Brazil, but I have a number of Brazilian friends and they all left because of what Freddy notes, and more. I think Brazil has an amazing future, but it has a long, dark tunnel to get there. If you move now, I think your quality of life would likely take a turn for the worse, but that would be balanced by the knowledge you would be playing a part in making the country better.

So I think the real question is: are you at a time in your life when your are strong enough for the fight or do you need a little more recovery time? For no matter how much love we have, there are times to self-heal and times to use our strength to help others to heal.
