apparently there is something trying to do just this! https://www.vidangel.com/
haven’t tried it, and they don’t support all the streaming services right now, but seems promising!

@mike well they don’t support disney or warner bros content “due to an agreement with the studios” so that makes sense. thought that wording seemed odd. boy, am i the only one who didn’t know about these guys? hah
@sabbatical I heard about it a few months ago, but completely forgot about it until you mentioned it.
I almost exclusively purchase content and watch it from my Plex library so this service doesn’t do too much for me.
@mike yeah, we have prime and access to a friend’s disney+, but fairly rarely watch via those services either. most often i end up watching via free (as in pizza *and* speech) sites to avoid the rigmarole and ickiness. canceled netflix some time ago. tbh if this was supplied by the major streaming services, that could be the killer feature that would get me to come back
@mike meanwhile, thankful for imdb parental guides
@sabbatical One of the major studios sued them over it. The lawsuit was eventually settled and as part of the terms they can’t build the service to work with that studio’s content.
I *think* the studio was Disney, but I could be wrong.
