This actually sounds like something I can support. Everyone should understand how guns work, safety, etc. Especially in america where it seems to be an issue with a lot of debate around it and the people with the strongest opinions seem to have the least knowledge. Education first, then perhaps the debates can have some sanity to them at least if nothing else.

@freemo I'd say the people with the strongest anti-gun opinions are the ones with the least knowledge.
Generally people with strong pro-gun opinions have them because they are knowledgeable about firearms.

Many schools in the past went even further than "gun safety" and had competitive shooting teams.

My uncle used to take his rifle to school and stash it in his locker so he could go hunting after school without going home first. A lot of kids did.

The less responsibility expected from kids, the less responsibility they're able to handle.
