By and large, the majority of role playing games require both players and game masters. I've never played a solo game myself, but I'm assuming that players are a bit of both there? Or perhaps the rules take the place of the GM?

At any rate, where do you tend to find yourself at the table? Do you tend to only be a player or a GM or do you do a bit of both?

I know I've asked this more or less before, but I thought opening it up to a multiple choice question like this might get a few more responses.

@cynical13 there are both solo games (single player, such as journalling games like Thousand Year Old Vampire, as well as oracle based and more choose your own adventure style), and also GM-less games for multiple players (either oracle based like Ironsworn, or collaborative games like Fiasco or Polaris).

@sgryphon Gotcha. I'm familiar with them in concept.

My experience is mostly with the choose your own adventure style, like the Lone Wolf books and the solo adventures for GURPS or AD&D. I know there are journaling games, but I haven't tried any yet.
