Until Elmo came along, I'd been an avid Twitter user from the beginning, when we tweeted via SMS from a flip-phone. In other words, back when Twitter was really interesting, useful, and exciting.

I started in 2008. The thing is I always used browser, never an app. So even once they started algorithming the timeline, there has always been a chronological option. Even now! But yes even so, it tries to switch you to the algorithm tab ("For You," formerly known as "Back to Home") all the time.
