Made a lot of sense in the medieval era (it's basically how central banks were formed) but today I don't understand why you'd settle for a second-rate fiat/gold hybrid.

Buying physical gold makes plenty of sense to me.

@skells It's big with free state project types. I think the idea is you have gold you can spend for daily trade/commerce. However it seems like a physical NFT via precious metal to me in that is has artwork on the foil.

@thendrix Free state projects are a good use case, as it might allow prices to remain stable locally instead of suffering under the deflationary pressures of BTC.

@thendrix I've always thought local coins like "London Coin" or "New York Coin" made some sort of sense, and in this case a local goldback is a step up from that imo
