@vriska serious suggestion, can you get a decent job in the UK and get treated there?

@skells I am not certain that I am qualified to do anything that would earn me a visa lol

@skells shit wouldnt hurt to try i guess lol

Isn't the NHS pretty shit too? At least I wouldn't have to pay for it

@vriska erm, they can be really slow but they'll take care of you

@skells Oh I guess all the shitty things Ive heard about them have been for mental health stuff and not physical health stuff

@vriska @skells I had to go private for toe surgery because I couldn’t walk and I’d been on the waiting list for over a year

They’re definitely a bit better at physical health than mental health but there’s honestly they still aren’t great imo It depends heavily on the area you’re in though, the south gets everything

But yeah, I definitely wouldn’t recommend moving to the UK

@Arcana @skells going into every non-Nottingham urban center and ordering a chip cob until I get beat to death by millwall supporters

@vriska @Arcana I guess if you're going to emigrate for healthcare there's bound to be better places than the UK

and yeah was gonna say, I'd avoid the north, shitty as that sounds, cos the south does get far more investment

@skells @vriska yeah, and the south is expensive as fuck to live in, housing in the UK is generally bad but the south is the kind of place where you have to be rich just to afford a shed

@Arcana @skells I've got enough hours in football manager I think I could probably run Queens Park Rangers tbh

Follow

@vriska @Arcana my brother actually applied to manage Newcastle a few years ago, citing his football manager record

@skells @vriska I lived in Newcastle for university, the city (even though it’s tiny) wasn’t too bad, definitely better than where I live currently but ultimately I want to emigrate
@skells @vriska for a long time I really wanted to move the US but immigration there is extremely difficult

My ex I was with for 7 years, that was our goal to move to the US but we never managed, well she did, she ended up meeting a guy from Ohio and went over and she loved it so much, like the way she described it compared to where we grew up (and I still live) it sounded amazing

I’d still be interested in that but again, it’s near impossible, most likely the pacific north west

A lot of my friends and the people I’ve gotten on with the best are from NA

Other than that people have suggested Canada but that’s just as difficult to get into

In 2017 I was considering moving to Mexico as I worked for a Mexican company at the time but my lack of speaking Spanish made that unviable

The only country I can easily emigrate to in a legal sense is Ireland which I’d definitely consider but I’d need some kind of income to do that and figure a bunch of stuff out but that applies to everywhere

Honestly, I’ll take most places but here

@Arcana @vriska I think the grass is always greener but you sometimes have to move to appreciate it anyway

@Arcana @vriska although I don't know your situation and the grass might legitimately me greener

particularly in ireland, never stops raining

@skells @vriska I love the rain, I like places where it rains a lot
@skells @vriska yeah, I don’t expect places to be perfect but moving to where I have friends and know people (and people who align with my values more) would be good, and geographically a lot of the US is my jam and I love the housing style in a lot of places (and they aren’t attached to other ones)

The only friend I had locally (other than my ex) was somebody from high school who cut me off because I am pro individual ownership of firearms which is an extremely controversial opinion here but like I’m an anarchist, of course I believe that

Plus where I live is just housing estates for miles where I’ve been threatened multiple times, it’s just extremely grim

As with my ex, she kinda experienced the grass on the other side and didn’t want to come back ever, saying people were much friendlier, walking the streets felt safe, so much more to do and see
