It would seem that the duck who is the real mother to the ducklings we have in the yard decided to just relinquish all parental rights to a duck that was sitting on eggs but is suddenly much more concerned with what the ducklings are doing.
Not sure at the moment. We might sell them, but they are mutts so they are probably more valuable as food. The problem with ducks is if you want to keep the skin (and a lot of healthy fat) the feathers are a lot harder to pluck. Their oils are a lot more persistent than chicken feathers so a hot water bath is not nearly as effective. I have found that if you cull them in the winter you can hang them for a few days upside down and the feathers will loosen up, but you can't get away with that most of the year around here.
