@skyblond @nixCraft I'd assert that the only correct answer is "whichever is the stylistic standard adopted by my current team and automatically applied via uncrustify or equivalent". I have a personal preference I will use on projects I don't collaborate with others on but if I'm working on a team, the house style wins, hands down. Life is too short to argue over this.

@arclight @skyblond @nixCraft THIS. It’s challenging to bounce between PHP/JS and C# because the conventions are commonly different but when you look at a consistent and clean code base it makes it all worth it.

@boxofsnoo @skyblond @nixCraft Just tell me what the local standard is, give me tools to ensure what I write conforms to project style, and let me focus on design and implementation instead of shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. I've trained myself to value code consistency over personal aesthetic pique and I'm just burned out on Developers With Strong Opinions. Just tell me what the standards and expectations are, point me away from the hyperventilating evangelistas, and let me get to work.
