Bought a relatively cheap equatorial earlier this month because I didn’t want to spend too much on astronomical photography. I was also waiting to buy a 180-600 to take some bird photos. But since then, Kunming is always cloudy at night during the weekends, so I went to skygems to rent a remote telescope. The equipment seems to be FSQ 106 + Moravian C3 6100. I checked ebay and found that this set is very expensive :(
Last night, the weather forecast said it would be cloud-free, so I ran out to take pictures of the stars. However, the clouds suddenly came up at 1 a.m. The weather forecast is really inaccurate... And the light pollution is very serious. I have to shrink down to F8 when exposing for 240 seconds, otherwise the photos will be all white, not to mention that I can’t find anything interesting. M42 can’t be seen at all... In the end, I took a picture of alpha CMi. The equipment is Nikon Z502, and the kit lens is DX 50-250.
Maybe I shouldn't buy the equatorial, renting from a remote location seems better, in terms of both price and light pollution.
I hate light pollution :(
