I guess it's time for an #introduction: Hi, I am an #illustrator primarily doing #sciArt, mostly for #neuroscience. www.somedonkey.work
If you don’t like #mice probably don’t follow me :-)
I am interested in #neuroscience, #contemporaryArt and #literature. Happy to discuss #graphic design and how to improve #scientificFigures.
Unafraid of #stableDiffusion
@kristinmbranson Maybe I should qualify - I am not afraid of stable diffusion… yet :-)
I’ve been playing with DALL-E and i find it useful for brainstorming. The results are often creepy (misplaced paws and tails etc.) but they can still serve as springboards for ideas and be helpful in that way.
I rarely find SD images aesthetically appealing, but it's a matter of taste… and perhaps just a matter of time? Right now i am pretty sure i can make better creative decisions than AI, but only because i have more experience. Eventually that won’t be the case.
So far this is all more interesting than frightening. Let's see where it leads...
@somedonkey Interesting that it can help you brainstorm! We did a reading group on generative AI for music, and it seemed like it was also mainly helpful for brainstorming there.
I'm not an artist, but I find it's good at merging two ideas that I would have trouble merging, i.e. interpolating. It's bad at A LOT of things :).
Thanks for explaining, it's interesting to hear how artists think about this.
