imo don’t pay attention to the “lab leak” part. i think his reaction is probably consistent with the general public. albeit the details of the response change. another friend had a similar reaction. a third friend too (but how a liberal person would react, “why didn’t they regulate???”)

anecdotally, i’ve told 3 people about it, and all 3 had viceral reactions 1. dad 2. Trump voter friend 3. Hippie-adjacent friend all of them had very deep anxiety-driven responses 100% hit rate (granted 2/3 were selection bias, i knew they’d react)
but the reactions are even more visceral than i thought they’d be
