@enkiv2 The political alienation comes from authoritarians in the federal government. We wouldn't be so divided if we weren't being forced to agree with each other. Arguing for more of that argues against democracy.

I agree that the expectation of broad agreement is the problem.

I don't think we can blame authoritarians in government for this -- they would (and do) demand it, but they don't have the power to implement such demands. Instead, it seems to be the side effect of socially-flat / non-federated media landscapes.
