Computers produce heat while in use, and work best when kept cool.
Why in the world are most computers sold with black cases? "Smart phones" are even worse than laptops because they're more compact and harder to ventilate, but sold with black cases, and then usually wrapped a black wallet case to protect the screen.
@strypey
Never heard of “black body radiation”? Black is the best colour to radiate heat.

How does that work?

I have the sniffles and can't think but I think this wikipedia page has a list of common emissivities
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emissivity
Black phone case and ideal black body radiator are different.
That’s news to me! When heavily used and charging my phone feels akin to the surface of the sun!
Uncoated glass and anodised aluminium have very good radiation properties (0.95 and 0.9 respectively)

@sycramore @futuresprog @strypey oh sorry! People are discussing whether phone case color affects its heat radiation.
