A neighbour asked me how to safely dispose of her old #mercury #thermometer. I expressed my sadness that it was broken. She said it wasn't, but she heard that mercury is toxic. Our old mercury thermometer broke some two years ago. No containment breach, so I didn't even have to get powdered sulfur to neutralize it, and I didn't get to play with those amazing blobs, like I used to as a child. Anyway, we now have a perfectly working, precise thermometer that doesn't need batteries. Being ill is now much easier.
