I bit the bullet and signed back on to #Facebook after deactivating my account 2 years ago. Taking a break was good. I left when it was discovered FB hid data from the company ethicist about connections between Instagram use by teenage girls and suicide. It's two years later now and nobody really cares. I've found that not being on it was making certain aspects of being an active participant in my local community more difficult, especially for cycling and active transport. Much more so than leaving Twitter. I've decided I won't be engaging on FB like most people, but mainly through groups and pages for local community groups. If I don't engage with a group in real life I won't be engaging through Facebook. We'll see how it goes. #Meta

@ColbyDigsSoil I was never on Facebook, though I did make many connections on Twitter, which I left over a year ago. Now I'm slowly trying to build a Fediverse space, on kbin, to integrate my community. I still need a good place for wetlands protection and restoration. There are a few new opportunities in my area and I need people who would help in dealing with them – or who would tell me to give up :)
