I don't understand why everyone hate's ORMs so much. It makes no sense. For any non-trivial project, you are all but guaranteed to want one. Probably sooner than you think. Why not just use one from the beginning that you know to be robust and well understood, instead of half reinventing the whole concept, ad-hoc, one query at a time?

@leobm because document DBs suck at data integrity, and it turns out most of the time you actually do need that.

In spite of how much work it is to satisfy them, schemas are an enabling constraint. By the time you've managed to bolt schema validation and enforcement onto a document db, you've lost all the advantages.

Maybe 's does equally well without an RDBMS, although not a typical OO language.
