Real question:

Does studying deeper formal or technical topics (proofs, abstract recurrence relationships, formal concurrency) leads to a better job and better pay ? or should I just focus on mastering SpringBoot and Jira keyboard shortcuts ~_~ ?

@jnpn imo social networking, personal relationships, self-dealing rings etc are all much more important careerwise over long run. I hate saying that but its the pattern I've seen fit best/most over decades

@synlogic I very mostly agree. Both about the impact of networking and the 'hate saying that' part :)

I just don't feel comfortable asking 150k per year just because I'm friend with someone.

I was trying to find a balance between actual skills matching a very high salary.

Money is made up, getting more of it or less of it (above a threshold?) should be OK. Somebody else getting it in your stead may not do as good use of it as you (would that be hubris?).

@tetrislife @synlogic in enterprises "not as good" seems rarely to be an argument. often smoke and mirrors
