At least in the US the idea that people get more conservative as they get older is based on the results of elections.
However what's more likely to be happening is the far more democratic black minority is dying at younger ages than more wealthy whites, so the electorate looks more conservative, because the less conservative people are dying younger due to inequality in resources and political power.
It's pretty plausible that any individuals political values don't shift around that much, and the shift in the electorate is more about changing demographics.
@alienghic @alex I think we shouldn't be flippant about the reduced capacity of faculties and the urge to compensate for it, that come with aging. They may really not remain self-assured enough to face "I don't know enough" .
