I keep hearing about #Textcasting , but I have to confess I still haven't heard an explanation that really gets at how it's different from #RSS or #ActivityPub.

Can someone make me smart?

The blurbs all say "like podcasting but for text!" but that already exists, it's called RSS, and it's awesome. Podcasting is literally built on RSS.

And then I see people talk about how it allows for collaboration and discussion, and...ok, but that's literally ActivityPub, right?

Like, we've already got web standards for both of these use cases. Is this an XKCD 927 thing or am I missing something?

@rdavidatwell old post, I know. It looks like you didn't get clarifications then. It isn't any clearer yet, but your suspicion that RSS is already it has merit.

I imagine they want applications to use RSS for fetching web pages or its ilk. Nowadays they are about Wordpress supporting some of it.

As @mikedev said in another thread on this, (and then and now ) do all of this. But they don't use building blocks like which may be what makes them not
