”The idea that Russia has endless resources is frustrating for the reason that it supports much of the rhetoric that the West can’t afford to support #Ukraine in the war because there’s no way they’ll outlast Russia. But in reality that’s not the case.”

-Anders Puck Nielsen

Yup. It’s not the Soviet Union. They’ll start to run into serious trouble by summer 2025 and that’s why they’re boosting these views with their troll army.

Who said _anyone_ has endless resources? When I look at what's being done to ensure we abandon fossil fuels it "endless European resources" is not a phrase anyone ever uses...
@BorisBarbour

@tobychev @BorisBarbour Yes, no-one has endless resources. But what I belive mr Nielsen is referring to there, is something where Putin’s Russia uses history instead of the current state of affairs to paint a picture.

Both the Russian empire & Soviet Union did have an almost unlimited supply on men to send to die. In foregone eras lacking precision & mass-kill remote weapons that was a formidable threat.

”Quantity has a quality of it’s own”, Stalin is famously quoted /

@tobychev @BorisBarbour as having said.

Russia is still capable of fielding a lot of men, but both it’s advantage has dwindled and modern Russia is far less indoctrinated & slavish.

While we remember that Russian press is not like the western press - it is peppered with state operatives who hold military rank - and the huge information attack capability they wield (61% of all info attacks in the world), they always have a story to push. /

@tobychev @BorisBarbour Currently they are utilising a legend from byegone eras to avoid the economically stable west from extending their support well into 2026, because they know their own economy will not cut it to win the war if it gets to that.

Many people still hold reverence to the mighty Soviet Union. It was an economic and liberty nightmare, but it’s military did work.

Honestly, this turned much more silly than I could imagine.

All I will say in reply is: you should try finding the source of that quote, it will be instructive for where most of the things you said really come from.
