Moral question! I buy an album, but then want to listen to it. Is it actively BETTER to listen to it (and favourite it) on Spotify, or not?

The obvious argument is that Spoitfy doesn't pay artists, and sure listening to music on there INSTEAD of buying it is crappy.

But I already bought this album. So engaging with it on Spotify in theory boosts the profile of music I like and maybe that will introduce it to others who will buy it.

Performative "delete your Spotify" arguments will be ignored.

A side benefit for me of the second option is that Spotify then suggests more music like it, so I discover them, and buy their stuff on Bandcamp Fridays, which is what we all want.

Yet again I pine for the old Zune app that let me buy the music right in the app itself. Technology lost to the ancients.

My tip for finding music on Spotify is searching for the profiles of radio stations or other places with music editors and checking out their "new music" playlist.

A bit harder to setup but you get real curated recommendations.
