lets see if defrosting the fridge helps with the noise. finally one thing these cold temperatures are good for - it's now all on the balcony.
well except the regular perishables, these just stay in. i figure the freezer is what matters

@piggo In many fridge/freezer combo models, if one of the two doors are open, both won't get cooled.

Learned the hard lesson when I forgot to close the fridge door once... 😬

@trinsec it's not likely the door stayed open since october. It just got noisy for no reason

@piggo Haha, I didn't mean since october. :D I mean, how do you go defrost it? Keeping the freezer door open and kind of.. clean it or?

During that time the fridge area won't get cooled is what I meant. :D

Oh sure, it wouldn't take that long (presumably) so not really a worry. Just sharing a bit of trivia here. ;)

@trinsec it's very cold outside these days, so I just moved all the frozen stuff on the balcony and left the freezer door open, with the power shut off. That did the trick, it seems. What I don't understand is where the ice was, if any. I had it partly disassembled before and it looked okay around the condenser coil and the fan was also okay... :mystery:

@piggo Yeah, but the fridge stuff you kept inside, but they didn't get cooled in the meantime. That's the part I referred to, just being a bit silly here don't mind me.

Maybe the compressor needed a little bit of downtime? Could be that somewhere inside was a bit clogged due to ice and that's now resolved? Kinda 'have you tried turning it off and then on?' hehehe.
