A feature once on another #SocialMedia site (which will remain nameless) was that you could put people into groups according to topics/interest.
It meant you could easily find the people you wanted to read straight away, but it also meant you didn't have to follow some people, but you could still read their posts. So accounts that post a lot wouldn't clog up your home feed.

@lydiaconwell Isn't that what lists are for? My instance also allows for 'subscribing' to people without actually following them (and then you can put them in a list as well).
