#Facebook

Yes, FB is shit, and yes, it allows hate to thrive ...

But the ongoing shadow banning makes FB feel like the dregs of a party: those final moments when most normal people have left for bed and you're still there, hanging around in a virtually empty darkened room while thumping music still plays.

I go on there to see what #AnotherAngryVoice has to say because he lacked the foresight to have left with the other sensible party goers.

#SocialMedia

There was a time when I'd comment a lot and even argue with the right wing dupes ...

I think I'm naturally bored of online arguing. I've long seen it as a futile, fruitless endeavour. I just quietly disagree with the person disagreeing with me and move on ...

But I think the shadow-banning has killed the pleasure also. #AAV doesn't have half of the comments he used to and those who do comment seem like hangers-on, shouting opinions into the ether.

It's not the same.

But maybe that's a good thing. In it's bid to suppress left wing voices, and creating an empty shell of a debating platform, it has left exposed just how meaningless it all was to begin with.

The political commentary isn't meaningless - I've always thought AAV's opinions to be valuable - but the bickering and arguing is meaningless.

Because it was never meaningful debate. It was always one-upmanship against trolls and dupes. It was hot takes against shitposters.

I think that's clearer now.

The people who still comment seem foolish to me. Some make clever points but so what? Who's going to read it?

It's all over.

@lydiaconwell That's why I simply block as many extremists here as possible, I can't be arsed arguing with people who don't know how to argue.
