I've got thousands of food recipes in various formats. Most are handwritten in kitchen jotters, although I also have several hundred in a single MS Word file (don't ask).

I've investigated various options for consolidating them. However, I've come to the conclusion that plain text is the way to go.

Each recipe will be a single plain text file, but, structured. This will enable me to convert to other formats, and to do searches. Plus, plain text is readable everywhere.

I'm starting to-morrow.

@fitheach I can recommend markdown. Still readable, but very nicely formatted in various software on various devices. I use Obsidian as an example, but almost any markdown-capable software can work.

@trinsec
I did consider markdown, and other markups, but, I concluded it wasn't necessary, for me. Plain text will be my storage format, which will also be eminently readable.

As my files will be structured, I can convert to any format (including md) either programmatically or using Unix-style text processing.
