“Pardon me. This program is too stupid to glean your desire from such a wonderfully crafted sentence. Please try something else.” - Space Quest III: The Pirates of Pestulon

@sean Let me elaborate a little bit.

I played LSL1, KQ3, PQ1 before that one... but SQ3 holds a special place in my heart because I actually finished that from start to finish on my own and learned a lot of English. The others were just stepping stones and we had a walkthrough for those. SQ3 only had 'hints' and that was a lot tougher.

@trinsec Yeah, there are definitely some tough puzzles in SQ3. It took me a long time to figure out how to fix the spacecraft to escape the big junkyard ship.

@sean Our biggest hurdle was the hint sentence 'Destroy android by pods'. Took a whole long time to figure out we had to walk along that cave with those weird creatures, and lure the android bounty hunter along there to destroy it. :D

I want a remake of this game, and then be able to buy everything in that weird shop in the desert (just before the android goes after you).

@trinsec It's funny, there have been several attempts at a VGA fan-remake of Space Quest 3, but none have succeeded. I even attempted one years ago!

(screenshot is in original resolution, so it'll look small)

@sean Heh, that's cool. Not my style though, I actually liked the more cartoony approach of the EGA SQ3. I think the biggest problem with VGA is that people tend to try to make it more realistic looking. I don't think it has to be.

@sean But when I said I'd like a remake of this game, actually envisioned a totally modern approach. Not point and click adventure style. Just the same universe.. and then going to that same shop and just buy everything! I guess I meant a remaster or something?

@trinsec It's really a gem, and strikes a good balance between a mysterious space adventure, and lots of funny jokes. Later Space Quest games feel less serious with every subsequent game, but this one still feels grounded.
