This picture isn't 100%, but it should already give you a very decent overview of the various sign language families.
BSL is totally seperate (the British didn't want to learn from those damn Frenchies...). ASL and related are the most common. Dutch Sign Language (NGT) and ASL have the same ancestor, so there's some overlap (but still very distinct sign languages).
