@EXIT_FAILURE This was a cable that came with my Samsung phone. I would certainly hope that they were not too cheap and non-compliant.
But yes, I do need to replace it eventually.

@EXIT_FAILURE I finally found that blasted thing, the tiny micro-usb to usb-c converter. I still have a wonderful nylon micro-usb cable that I'll utilize for this. Crisis averted. :)
