There are a few things that are, imo, holding Mastodon back from being genuinely popular/easy-to-use.
They're basically the same problems Twitter in the early 2010s. No reason why they can't be fixed, in a particularly Mastodon-y way.

@justinling There are modified Mastodon servers which support quote-toots. There are also other microblogging servers on this network that also support this, Misskey being one of them.
