TIL that the book by that guy, that they based the movie Catch Me If You Can on, is 90% fabricated.
Frank Abagnale's biggest con in fact was convincing the whole world that he actually pulled that all off. He also never flew a plane.
His claim that he "was only conning companies", like some modern day Robin Hood was a straight-up cap. He always conned "normal" people like you and me and is still riding on that wave giving talks for insane levels of remuneration.

@trinsec It was amusing. But Steven Spielberg not doing due diligence and presenting it as a true story is kinda sad.
He did it again later with Jurassic Park 😅
