Just tried the ROG Ally at Best Buy. Here’s how it compares to the Steam Deck:

Positives: Higher resolution (1080P native, 4K on TV), better GPU, high specs overall, ability to connect with an eGPU, 3 months free of Xbox Live

Drawbacks: Way more expensive, plastic feels cheap, controls feel too loose, bad ergonomics, not as repairable, requires higher specs because Windows 11 eats up resources

If you’re going to get this thing, it’s not even worth it unless you’re planning to dock it with your TV or monitor. At which point, you better get the eGPU.

For me, personally, I prefer the Steam Deck because I don’t need the “best” experience—a mobile won’t deliver that. Plus, I already have a tower. No, I use it to play my backlog of Steam games—few of which require the latest GPU.

@atomicpoet Could you elaborate on the bad ergonomics part? Just curious.
