If @senatemajldr@twitter.com goes ahead with this bullshit, it's time to get on the fucking streets. #MerrickGarland

@wjmaggos nah. It'd be a dick move but he didn't violate the constitution

@valleyforge

much of what we do is a norm and not in law or the Constitution, like the number of SCOTUS justices. McConnell set a new precedent to prevent Obama's appointment and is now going back on that. That's an abuse of power.

@wjmaggos the senate can choose to confirm or not confirm any nominee they want. Thats the norm. He was a dick about it but nothing more

@valleyforge

what he did last time is new by not even having a hearing. you can't do that to Obama 9 months out and then rush a Trump nominee less than 2 months out. this implies that Senate leaders can stop a president from appointing justices, for all 8 years if they can maintain control. ridiculous.

Follow

@wjmaggos yeah they can. The Senate holds the exclusive power to confirm SCOTUS nominees. The president is not entitled to a nominee

@valleyforge

technically correct. And if Biden wins and gets the Senate, they can legally appoint as many justices as he chooses too.

this is moving us along the downward spiral toward civil war.
