Well. Delaware has a Trans Senator. Sarah McBride.

Its a shame she’s a Democrat — but ok, maybe the Republicans weren’t ready for it yet. Or maybe there just aren’t enough of us for probability to do its thing lol.

Either way — this is a real victory for Trans people, regardless of her political affiliation.

Red or Blue, I’ll take it lol

@shebang

I don't think the Republican party will ever be ready for a trans person. Democrats barely got on board that train in the last five years.

It's too bad the US is stuck in this red vs. blue nightmare. Rank choice voting and getting corporate $ out of the political process would be fantastic, but probably a pipe dream.

@katt Well the Republicans had the Log Cabin since 1971, and has been gently leaning Libertarian since 2016. They no longer reject the gays, for example. As with a lot of things when it comes to perception, whats needed is the right trans person for the job, and the rest will follow.

@shebang

Surely you jest. Have you looked at the republican party platform lately?

@katt I don’t jest and I don’t appreciate the tone.

Yes, their platform is outdated and crappy. It doesn’t represent the actual Republican public. Its still half-trying to appease the religious right, etc. The Democrats are at least a full election cycle behind culture, and generally speaking, the Republicans are behind 2 or even 3. Give it time.

People on the right like myself apply our pressure for modernization and, it does work, but pushing the old guard of the government takes a time.

@shebang

I find it strange that you wish to "pressure for modernization" a political party that is anti-progress from its core.

Seems very..... antithetical.

@katt Did you say, watch the Gay Down Hall debate?

https://youtu.be/QIeC3t_R05w?t=1700

The entirely of the lefts politics is more centralized power, more government, more taxes, more control over the public.

I don’t call any of that progress.

@shebang

Both parties suck, and I'm not a Democrat, and it'll be a cold day in mythical hell the day I'll vote for the party that embraces xenophobia and white supremacy, among other things.

@katt Oooh the tired fake news old “white supremacy” line. As if Trump hadn’t denounced in dozens of times.

You know what is true though? Biden never denounced the violence, burning and rioting BLM and Antifa caused.

:blobshrug2:

@shebang

Trump never denounced white supremacy and the fact that you think he did makes me think this conversation is wholly unproductive. Not sure what your game is, but something's definitely off.
